Drums of Hope: A Celebration of Hawaii and Okinawa

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Like the beat of our hearts, the beat of the drum can be a powerful force. The Eisa Drum Festival and Daiichi Hirata are pleased to announce a new show called "Drums of Hope." This production brings together drummers from Hawaii, Okinawa, and Fukushima. This show is all about how culture can provide the light we need to get through some of our darkest times.

From Okinawa acclaimed chanter and musician Daiichi Hirata and members of his academy will be performing, as well as Souka Kariyushi, the recipients of the 2014 Aloha Spirit Award and 3rd place winners of the Worldwide Eisa (drum) Festival competition. From Fukushima, there will be the taiko drummers of Team Ibuki. Kazufumi Miyazawa, the lead singer of world famous rock group The Boom, will also be a guest performer.  He and Daiichi will debut a new song they wrote for this show.

Hawaii performers include Chinagu Eisa Hawaii, Hawaii Okinawa Creative Arts, Nuuanu Shorin Ryu Karate and Tamagusuku Ryu Senjukai Hawaii Frances Nakachi Ryubu Dojo. Other special guests include Kumu Michael Pili Pang and Halau Hula Ka No'eau.

There will be a set number of $100 Super Support tickets. Each Super Support ticket comes with a parking stall at HOC, early entrance, reserved seat and a $55 tax deduction.
