Police: Speed, alcohol likely factors of fatal car crash in Mililani

MILILANI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A 21-year-old man who died in a single-car crash in Mililani was likely speeding and under the influence of alcohol, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Police said the Mililani man was driving northbound on Meheula Parkway near Holanialii Street at around 6:30 p.m. Monday when he lost control of his Nissan and slammed into a tree. He was taken to the Wahiawa General Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.

No one else was injured.

Meheula Parkway was closed for about two hours as police investigated.

This is the 28th traffic fatality this year as compared to 32 at the same time last year.
