Wong Snubbed for All-Star Game

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Major League Baseball All Star reserves were announced Monday and the Cardinals' 2nd baseman Kolten Wong was not among those selected. Despite leading all National League second baseman in home runs and RBI this season, the Hilo native will not likely be participating in this year's All-Star Game in Cincinnati next week.

Making his case even stronger is the fact that he finished second in with just over 5.6 million fan votes among second basemen, trailing only the Marlins' Dee Gordon.

Two other 2nd basemen were selected as reserves for the NL. DJ LeMahieu of the Rockies and Joe Panik of the Giants, whose manager, Bruce Bochy, will lead the National League squad.

Bochy didn't even pick Wong to be a part of the final vote for the last roster spots, which ends this Friday. So unless there are injuries to the current All-Stars, Wong will not be one this year.
