UH Manoa grants Georgia teen's wish

MANOA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Georgia teen's dream became a reality thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the University of Hawaii Manoa.

Fifteen-year-old Camron Hulsey, who is battling cancer, had her wish granted on July 6 when she received a dream tour of UH Manoa's marine biology program.

"I've always been interested in aquatic life, and it's been a fun experience like seeing them from far away, but I really wanted to get up close and touch some of them," said Hulsey.

Earlier that day, the teen was greeted at UH Manoa with a surprise welcome rally. She was presented a conditional certificate of acceptance for the university, and with news that Coconut Island's name will temporarily change to "Camron Island" in honor of her visit.

Camron hopes to one day study marine biology at UH and earn her degree.
