Lagoon Drive access restricted on Fourth of July

As the big holiday nears, more restrictions are implemented.

The state Department of Transportation advises Oahu motorists that there will be restricted access to Lagoon Drive, adjacent to the Honolulu International Airport makai of Aolele Street from 6p.m., Saturday night, July 4 to 2a.m., Sunday morning, July 5.

Along with area patrols throughout the night, Sheriff's Deputies will be operating a security checkpoint to ensure only authorized persons are allowed access.

As a reminder, consumption of alcoholic beverages as well as the use of fireworks and open flames are not permitted on airport property.

Any suspicious activity or persons near the Honolulu International Airport should be reported immediately to the Sheriff at 836-6606 or to the Airport Duty Manager at 836-6434.
