KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Kona man has died from injuries he received in a domestic dispute.
On June 21, Ezra Barro, 20, was rushed to the emergency room at the Kona Community Hospital with a laceration to his left forearm. The investigation revealed that he had received the injury during a domestic altercation at a home on Awakea Street in Kailua-Kona.
He was rushed to Kaiser Medical Center on Oahu in critical condition, but died on June 28. The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine his exact cause of death.
The case will be reclassified from a first-degree assault to a manslaughter case. Detectives from the Hawaii Police Department are continuing the investigation.
Eighteen-year-old Synise Santos of Kailua-Kona was arrested, but released on June 23 pending investigation. Detectives have initiated a second abuse case with Santos as the victim.
