HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - More hot weather hit the islands Sunday as a new record high was set in Hilo and another record was tied in Kahului.
An automated weather site recorded a high of 88 degrees in Hilo Airport Sunday. If it holds, that would break the old record high of 87 set back in 1980.
Another automated site in Kahului record a high temperature of 92, which ties the record for the date set in 1969.
Temperatures are expected to continue into the upper 80's around much of the state for the rest of the week into the Independence Day weekend.
