HALEIWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A scuba diver died after running into trouble at Shark's Cove in Haleiwa Sunday morning, officials said.
The Medical Examiner's Office has identified him as Kenneth Cherry of Honolulu.
Authorities responded to Shark's Cove at 10 a.m. Sunday. The 27-year-old was apparently scuba diving when he hit his head and lost consciousness. Bystanders pulled him out of the water and performed CPR.
Ocean Safety officials were first on scene and took over CPR. Care was then transferred to Emergency Medical Services and the victim was transported to Kahuku Medical Center where he died.
HFD and HPD also responded.
