HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There has been an arrest in a two-year-old accident that killed an Oahu man on the Pali Highway.

The suspect, 54-year-old Charles Kiakona of Kailua, was taken into custody on Monday. He was the driver of the flatbed tow truck that was making an illegal U-turn in January 2013 when a car slammed into it. The cab of Kiakona's truck was in the median, while the flatbed portion remained on the highway.

The driver of the car, 83-year-old Herbert Muraoka, was killed.

Kiakona was arrested on suspicion of third degree negligent homicide, which is a misdemeanor. He plead "no contest" to the charges. A judge sentenced Kiakona to a one-year deferral period and 45 hours of community service.
