HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Honolulu police officer pleaded no contest on Monday to charges stemming from an assault on his former girlfriend and another man at a nightclub.
Danson Cappo, who has been a police officer for two years, pleaded no contest to second-degree theft, third-degree assault, misdemeanor abuse of a family or household member, and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
A grand jury indicted the 27-year-old earlier this year for an attack on his ex-girlfriend that happened last March, though the victim said the abuse started in May 2013. Court documents said the officer grabbed, slapped and punched her.
The woman filed for a Temporary Restraining Order, which was granted for five years. His gun was taken away and he has since been on desk duty with HPD.
Cappo will be sentenced on August 18.
