HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - [Update 6/4/15]
Gary Lee Landis was released pending investigation Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
After seven months, Honolulu police have made an arrest in the murder of a well-known newspaper salesman in Kaimuki.
Gary Lee Landis, 30, was arrested for second-degree murder on Tuesday after going to the Honolulu Police Department headquarters on Beretania Street to talk to officers about another matter.
Investigators believe Landis stabbed 70-year-old Thaddeus "Ted" Pirga, Jr. on Nov. 9, 2014. Pirga was found dead on Waialae Avenue where he sold newspapers.
Police sources say Landis is homeless. He remains in police custody but has not yet been charged.
