Allan Silva Hired as Crusader Basketball Head Coach

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - HONOLULU, Hawaii – May 15, 2015 Saint Louis School has hired well-known coach and motivational speaker Allan Silva as varsity basketball coach, athletics director Wade Okamura announced today.

Silva has been the boys' varsity basketball coach at Farrington High School for the past 11 years, leading his teams to multiple Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) and Hawaii State Championships.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Allan Silva to our head coaching staff," said Okamura. "Allan's depth of skill in basketball and his dedication to working with Hawaii's youth make him an excellent choice for Saint Louis."

Silva received a commendation from the Hawaii State Senate as an Outstanding Advocate for Children & Youth in Hawaii, and from Dr. Arun Gandhi - "We Are One Foundation" for his message of Aloha that he shares with youth and adults. As a coach, he's offered "The Ultimate Basketball Shooting Method" clinic nationwide for elementary, intermediate, high school, college and professional players.

"I look forward to steering the Saint Louis basketball program back to a winning tradition and to contribute to the overall development of our young student athletes," remarked Silva.

Silva was a basketball standout at Kailua High School and Chaminade University. While at Chaminade, he was coached by one of his mentors, Merv Lopes, and earned a Psychology/Education. He received a M.Ed. in Counseling/Guidance from the University of Hawaii.
