HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Mililani High School has been named the best public school in the state, according to a new national list.
'US News & World Report' says it looked at student performances in math and reading portions of state proficiency tests, making this ranking entirely based on academics. Mililani High has a student enrollment of more than 2,400 and a student to teacher ratio of 19 to 1.
Kalaheo was listed as No. 2 in Hawaii followed by President William McKinley High School at No. 3.
While Mililani is No. 1 in the state, it did not rank very high compared to the rest of the country. Nationally, 'US News & World Report' ranks the high school at 1,210.
