HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Hawaii County Ethics Board voted on Wednesday to defer action on a complaint against Big Island Mayor Billy Kenoi for his improper use of a county credit card.

The three members of the ethics board, who were appointed by Kenoi, also voted to take no action on allegations that the mayor failed to file gift disclosures for thousands of dollars in free travel that he received.

The board said it was hesitant to take action on the complaint by Kapaau resident Ric Hyland due to a pending criminal investigation by the state Attorney General's office.
