HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Get a taste of Hilo without leaving Oahu! On Saturday, May 16, from 5-10 p.m., the Hilo High School Foundation transforms the Pagoda Hotel Ballroom into a mini Big Island with their first-ever "Bite of Hilo...Like Sample?" event, featuring dishes created by native Hilo chefs as well as eats from popular Hilo vendors.
Headlining the experience is Hilo High alumnus and award-winning celebrity chef Sheldon Simeon, of MiGRANT Maui. After finding success in Bravo's "Top Chef," the Vikings class of 2000 graduate returned to Hawaii and opened his own restaurant, offering a diverse menu filled with expertly blended local flavors, inspired by old family recipes.
While you eat, enjoy live contemporary Hawaiian music by Big Island-born entertainer Lito Arkangel, and several Hilo High School alumni bands.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Hilo High School students via the Hilo High School Foundation.
Tickets are priced at $100 per person (includes two drink coupons).
