KAKAAKO (HawaiiNewsNow) -  Hawaii developers, Kobayashi Group and The MacNaughton Group today announced sales for their new Kakaako condominiums to begin on Saturday, May 9 at 8 a.m. at the Vida Owner-Occupant Welcome Center.

The development of the condominiums they call VIDA at 888 Ala Moana has not yet been completed, but people are already lining up to be one of the first to purchase. The first potential buyer has been in line since midnight.

"As owner-occupant sales commence for VIDA at 888 Ala Moana, we are pleased to share our latest, exceptional residential community with Hawaii," said Duncan MacNaughton, chairman of The MacNaughton Group. "We are confident our trusted clientele, as well as new clientele, will see that VIDA is a continuation of The MacNaughton Group and Kobayashi Group's established brand of luxury living."

Of the 232 units, only 131 units will be available on a first come, first serve basis during this phase of sales. Prices for two-bedroom units start at $998,000. Three-bedroom units begin at $1,551,000.

The 39 story building will include a children's play area, dog park, fitness and yoga center, a kids' gym, private theater, craft room, community garden, outdoor spa, a putting area, two pools, private dining room, outdoor theater, wine tasting room and guest quarters. Cyclists and surfers will also have a storage area for their equipment.

VIDA at 888 Ala Moana received unanimous support from the Ala Moana-Kakaako Neighborhood Board and did not seek any modifications or variances from HCDA Mauka Area Rules. VIDA will be seeking LEED Silver certification, acknowledging a high-level of commitment to energy-efficient design and features.

A commissioned sculpture at VIDA'S entry by renowned local artist Satoru Abe will featured.

"One of our noted trademarks the past several decades in Hawaii is to create kamaaina communities that appeal to both the homeowner and the neighborhood," said Kobayashi Group founder Bert Kobayashi, Sr. "We remain committed to perpetuating Hawaii's uniqueness; for example, we are incorporating Hawaii art throughout the development."

The VIDA Owner-Occupant Welcome Center will be open daily beginning Saturday, May 9, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit vida888alamoana.com or call 808-888-6616 for more information.
