The World’s Largest Breakdancing Competition Comes to Honolulu on May 8th

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

On May 8, the most prestigious one-on-one global breakdancing competition will makes its debut in the Aloha State, at Warehouse 449 in Honolulu, HI. After scouring the nation, expert judges and breakdancing legends, RoxRite and Ronnie have selected sixteen B-Boys to compete in the Red Bull BC One West Coast Cypher, with the winner advancing to the National Finals August 21-22 in Orlando, Florida.

Doors will open at 7PM and the competition will begin at 8PM. The competition is free and open to all ages.

Each competitor will battle in front of hundreds of fans to showcase jaw-dropping freezes, high-flying acrobatics and precise footwork. The evening will be hosted by Rakaa of the legendary hip-hop group Dilated Peoples and B-Boy crew Rock Steady, along with DJ Lean Rock taking over the turntables.

Before the competition, the sixteen competitors will be randomly paired in bracket style elimination. The all-star judging panel of RoxRite (Red Bull BC One All-Star and 2011 Red Bull BC One World Champion) and Ronnie (Red Bull BC One All-Star and 2011 Red Bull BC One World Champion) will evaluate each battle and chose the B-Boy with the best skills, rhythm, and creative style, until a single winner remains. The victor will advance to the Red Bull BC One National Final in Orlando, Florida in August. Ultimately, one B-Boy will go on to represent the United States in the 2015 Red Bull BC One World Final in Rome, Italy.

Throughout 2015, over 70 Cyphers will take place in every corner of the globe. Sixteen of each country's best B-Boys will go head-to-head for the chance to represent at six National Finals in Azerbaijan, USA, Peru, South Korea, Spain and Tunisia. The winners of these finals will go on to battle in Rome alongside ten Wild Card entries, chosen by an international team of B-Boy experts.
