Kauai officials investigate 2 brush fires in Anahola

ANAHOLA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Kauai authorities are investigating two brush fires that broke out in Anahola this week.

The first fire appeared to have started from an abandoned vehicle that was set ablaze shortly before midnight on Tuesday, according to the Kauai Fire Department. Firefighters arrived on scene at an open field below Pilipoli Road and extinguished the fire by 1 a.m.

On Wednesday afternoon, a separate brush fire broke out in the same area at around 2:40 p.m.

A fire department helicopter dropped water on the roughly 2-acre fire. The blaze was under control by 4 p.m.
