High Surf Advisory in effect for south shores of Hawaiian islands

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for south-facing shores while a south swell moves through the Hawaiian islands this week.

The advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters said surf will likely be between 5 to 8 feet for south-facing shores. Surf will peak Wednesday and will gradually diminish Thursday and Friday.

NWS said beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous.
