UH Volleyball's Taylor Averill and Brook Sedore Named All-Americans

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Two Rainbow Warriors earned All-American AVCA Division I-II Men's Volleyball honors with three receiving Honorable Mention nods, announced Monday morning by the AVCA Division I-II Men's Volleyball All-America Committee.Senior middle-blocker Taylor Averill was selected to the First-Team for his second-straight year, and is the fourth player in school history to earn multiple AVCA First-Team All-America honors. Averill ranks second in the country in hitting percentage (.483) and averages 1.30 blocks per set. He was additionally named All-MPSF First-Team two weeks ago.Opposite Brook Sedore was selected to the Second-Team for his first year after earning Honorable Mention last season. Sedore, who averages 3.36 K/S, 1.49 D/S, and 0.66 B/S this season, is the 19th different player in UH history to be named an AVCA All-American. The senior was also named to the All-MPSF First-Team along with Averill.Juniors Sinisa Zarkovic, Kolby Kanetake and sophomore Jennings Franciskovic all made the AVCA Honorable Mention list this season for the first time in their careers. Outside hitter Zarkovic, who sat out for a chunk of the season nursing an injury, returned midway and finished off with two double-doubles and 15 matches with double-figure kills, averaging 3.20 kills per set.Libero Kanetake concludes an outstanding season with 297 digs and counting for the third-best in UH rally-scoring history. Kanetake ranks fifth in the country in digs with 2.91 D/S and was named All-MPSF Second-Team along with Franciskovic and Zarkovic.In his first season at starting setter, Franciskovic ranks sixth in the nation in assists with a 10.80 assists per set average. He had a standout performance earlier this season against Pepperdine, tallying an MPSF-high 70 assists that night towards UH's five-set victory over the Waves.UH is set to face Penn State in one of two NCAA Play-In matches, May 5 at 8:00 p.m. PT at Maples Pavillion.
