HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Hundreds turned out in downtown Honolulu Sunday afternoon to support former Punahou and Boise State football standout Jeremy Ioane at Murphy's Bar and Grill.
Ioane is battling an auto-immune disease that affects his kidneys making it so they are functioning at just 1 percent of normal capacity. On May 5th, Jeremy's twin sister Jasmine will be donating a kidney to her brother via transplant in Utah.
Today, family and friends hosted a fundraiser to help with the family's medical bills. There was live music, food and a silent auction where several high profile athletes like Marcus Mariota, Manti Te'o, Kolten Wong and Carissa Moore donated items to be auctioned off for the cause.
So far over $50,000 has been raised as a result of the fundraisers. The goal is to raise $100,000.
