Honolulu firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out at the Aikahi Park Shopping Center in Kailua at around 3:15 a.m. Thursday. Initial reports over fire dispatch said the flames were visible from L&L Drive-Inn. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke and flames coming from the one-story structure that contained five businesses.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area of L&L, HFD said, but it still affected some of the businesses occupying the building, including the Feather and Fur Animal Hospital where more than 20 animals needed to evacuate along with personnel.

No injuries have been reported so far.

Fire investigators were called to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

According to HFD, damages are estimated at $320,000 to the structure and $80,000 to its contents.
