Make-A-Wish Foundation makes 5-year-old’s dream come true

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Five-year-old Daidap only dreamed of being a police officer, and on Tuesday, Honolulu police and Make-A-Wish Foundation teamed up to make his wish come true.

He got an official police badge and became the youngest to be sworn in to the department by Police Chief Louis Kealoha.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell was also there to congratulate the youngster.

After the boy went through his pinning ceremony, Make-A-Wish and HPD presented him with his own police car, with “Officer Daidap” appearing on the side.

Officers showed Daidap a little police training, fingerprinting and how to use handcuffs.

He has had almost nine open heart surgeries in his young life.

Organizers hope this experience will give him a renewed hope and strength to fight future surgeries.
