Authorities are searching for a possible missing surfer in waters off Barbers Point.

Although there were no missing persons or distress reports, the Honolulu Fire Department said Wednesday afternoon that an unmanned surfboard washed ashore at Nimitz Beach near White Plains.

A Coast Guard helicopter arrived to the area at 6:20 p.m. Fire crews also searched until sunset with one rescue boat and jet ski.

The white Tanaka surfboard is about 7 feet long and no leash attached.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Coast Guard at (808) 842-2600.
