AIEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Overnight lane closures on the H-1 freeway are in effect this week for Honolulu rail work and general freeway roadwork.

Road repair work will shut down part of the H-1 freeway in the eastbound direction, between the Kaamilo Street Overpass and the Aiea/Kaneohe/Honolulu offramp, every night through Friday, April 24, according to the state Department of Transportation. Crews will close off three left lanes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then, four left lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. in the same area.

Roadwork will require replacing approximately 10,000 square feet of deteriorated pavement. The concrete deck will be replaced with approximately 85 precast panels.

In addition, up to three westbound and eastbound lanes of the H-1, approaching the H-1/H-2 merge, will be closed starting Tuesday evening through Thursday, April 23, for rail guideway construction, the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation announced. The closure will take place from 9 p.m. through 4 a.m. Crews will begin closing one westbound lane at 9 p.m. and additional lanes during each subsequent hour.
