Police re-open King Street following building fire in Chinatown

KALIHI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu fire crews are investigating a building fire that happened in Chinatown on Monday evening.

The two-alarm fire broke out just after 6 p.m. on the one hundredth block of North King Street. Fire crews were able to get the fire under control quickly.

Officials say the fire started in the old eastern food center, which closed in February.

Everyone who was in the unit was able to get out safely in time and no one was injured.

Police did close King Street for a few hours, but reopened the road for drivers around 7:30 p.m.
