HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory for the east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters said strong trade winds will bring rough and elevated surf in the 6- to 8-foot range.

East-facing shores will have strong breaking waves, shore breaks, and strong long shore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous.

Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice from ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
