HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from a building on Alakea Street Wednesday morning.

Honolulu Fire Department personnel arrived on scene at 1067 Alakea Street at around 8:40 a.m. Upon arrival, crews determined the source of the smoke as overheated elevator equipment. After the investigation, firefighters then shut down power to the equipment and ventilated the building.

They managed to get everything under control at around 10 a.m. A service contractor was then called to the scene to make repairs, according to HFD.

No injuries were reported.

Police closed off Alakea Street to traffic during the investigation.

Damage estimates to the building have yet to be determined.
