TRAFFIC ALERT: Key stretch of Farrington Highway to reopen in westbound direction

EWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

West Oahu drivers will get some relief, particularly during the afternoon commute, starting Wednesday as a stretch of Farrington Highway reopens.

Honolulu rail officials say that the westbound direction of Farrington Highway, between North-South Road to Old Fort Weaver Road, will reopen at 3 p.m. Wednesday until 7:30 p.m. Beginning Thursday, it will be open from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays.

The roadway in the eastbound direction will continue to remain open for morning commuters during that same time period. The road that connects Waipahu and East Kapolei is also open on weekends.

However, this same stretch of road will continue to be closed in both directions Monday to Friday – from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. -- for rail guideway work.
