WAIPAHU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu firefighters extinguished a fire that started from a shopping cart and spread to the Tropicana Square shopping center building in Waipahu Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived on scene to the shopping center on Moloalo Street at approximately 5 a.m. and were able to put out the fire within 20 minutes.

Several businesses were damaged, including Little Caesars Pizza and Follicles A Hair Salon, with cracked windows and burns. Some of the other businesses may have experienced some smoke damage as well, the Honolulu Fire Department said. However, no injuries were reported as no one was in the building as the time.

HFD said the shopping cart appeared to be a homeless cart.

Damage estimates to the property have yet to be determined.
