HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Get set for the Makahiki! Celebrating its 104th consecutive year on Saturday, May 9th, the Makahiki is the oldest Scout show in the nation. With 3,000 attendees annually, the Makahiki event focuses on keiki, families and Scouts and will run from 9 am to 3 pm.

Ala Moana Beach Park provides the perfect backdrop for a fun-filled day. Activity booths put on by Scouts and community partners incorporate Scout and STEM science activities like bottle rockets, rope bridges and a Kid Zone. There will be ono food with many food truck vendors from Eat the Street, outdoor displays and military vehicles to explore and climb.

Lanai Tabura will be the emcee announcing a line-up of entertainment acts as well as holding contests and prizes throughout the day. The Makahiki will be the launch of Perk Alerts, powered by Hawaii Perks, which will allow Scouting units to earn additional funding through social media. This year, the Aloha Council used Hawaii Perks to power its Makahiki Card, its annual card fundraiser. Scouts can be seen selling the Makahiki Card which are $12, on Oahu and Hawaii Island at Safeway, Foodland, Jamba Juice and KTA Stores.
