High Surf Advisory issued for east-facing shores

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A High Surf Advisory has been issued for east-facing shores until 6 p.m. Sunday as a swell combined with locally-generated trade wind waves brigs large and rough surf.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu said waves of 5 to 8 feet are possible along the east shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii.

Beach goers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice from ocean safety lifeguards and exercise caution. Strong breaking waves, shore breaks, and strong longshore and rip currents will make swimming dangerous and difficult.
