Kaua'i police respond to incident at WalMart

LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Kaua‘i police responded to a disorderly conduct report at WalMart this afternoon involving a disgruntled customer and a screw driver.

No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m., when a 49-year-male, with no known address, was attempting to return at item at the customer service counter near the entrance of the store. The man reportedly became upset during the transaction and began yelling. He then pulled out a screw driver that belonged to him and held it up to his neck.

According to witnesses, the man did not threaten to harm anyone during the incident.

Patrol officers and crisis negotiators responded to the scene and detained him.

He was transported by police to Wilcox Hospital for evaluation.

No arrests have been made at this time, however, the suspect faces disorderly conduct charges.

The incident remains under police investigation.
