MAPUNAPUNA (HawaiiNewsNow) -

“We're excited, obviously. We've had many break-ins over the years and we've never had a recovery period, especially so quick".

Mark Ely of South Seas Cycles, was breathing easier after three stolen motorbikes were found in the back of a 14-foot Uhaul truck parked on Iwaiwa Street in Halawa Heights this morning.

"We wanted to thank the neighbors across the street who noticed the U-Haul that shouldn't be parked here" he continued. Police say the neighbors had their suspicions raised after watching a live report on Sunrise.

UHaul Mapunapuna does have theft deterrents, like lights and cameras, but what they don't have is a large fence or gate protecting the lot. That means the crooks were able to enter the lot, break into the truck, bust the ignition, and just drive off. From there, it's just a short drive to South Seas, where the thieves backed the truck through the front window, stealing the three bikes.

"At least we got three of them back, didn't get back what we lost last weekend" said Ely.

He was referring to four off-road motorcycles that were stolen in a similar fashion early Sunday morning. Thieves pried open South Seas front doors, taking the motorbikes. Later in the day, around 12:35pm, Kapolei police recovered a stolen Uhaul. They believe the cases are connected.
