WAIPIO (HawaiiNewsNow) - Only Hawaii News Now was there as Honolulu police and U.S. Marshals arrested a convicted drug dealer right in the middle of a busy street.

Steven Chung was pulled over by a marked police car on Ka Uka Boulevard in Waipio, Tuesday afternoon. Just seconds later, plain clothes officers surrounded his pickup truck.

"I guess they were watching him already," said Nalu Sebela, who witnessed the arrest. "Guns were drawn and everything. He just opened the door and (they) put him down on the ground, and handcuffed him."

Sources said they had been watching Chung for about two weeks after a federal warrant was issued for probation violation. Chung served time in federal prison for trying to sell a large of amount of drugs to an undercover officer in 2006.

Chung has a long criminal history, which includes more than a dozen convictions at both the state and federal levels. In addition to the drug crimes, he has also served time for theft and terorristic threatening.

He is being held at the Federal Detention Center.

Ka Uka Boulevard was shut down for a short time as police searched Chung's truck. Sources said more drugs were found inside.
