PEARL CITY, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A confrontation between two groups of teenage boys left a city bus with shattered windows early Saturday morning.

The dispute broke out around midnight along Kamehameha Highway near the 24 Hour Fitness in Pearl City.

A witness says that one group got onto the bus and told the driver to hit the gas because they were being chased. Moments later, the second group of teens started hitting the bus with baseball bats.

The bus driver was eventually able to pull away from the dangerous group of teens but the damage had already been done.

President of Oahu Transit Services, Roger Morton said five or six windows were cracked and shattered when the youths smashed them with a golf club.

Timothy Poyer, a passenger at the time of the attack, said the bus was full and panic ensued.

"There was screaming... and ladies were crying...it was crazy, it was chaos, yelling and everything"

Repair costs are estimated at $3,000. No injuries were reported.

Poyer who says he will think twice before taking the city bus again, hopes the youths will stray from their rowdy and dangerous behavior.

"I would tell them to get a life, read a book or something, do something productive instead of you know getting on that path to end up in jail." Poyer said.
