HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Keiki Education Living Independent Institute (K.E.L.I.I.) was brought into existence on July 1, 2012 by the Haole Family, after their child, Kelii, who was dealing with a genetic and neurodevelopment disorder and behaviors.
It's a challenge to travel all over the island to receive the right services for a child with special needs. It was decided to give families a break and to create a foundation that would be a "one-stop" shop called K.E.L.I.I., which would have different agencies and therapeutic programs to help with treatment, advocate programs, to educate, provide parent support and connect families to secure the best possible future for their child and young adult.
The Administration and Board of Directors are led by parents and siblings (with a special needs child), Psychologists, Behaviors Specialists, Therapists, Attorneys and other professionals in the corporate world.
They are dedicated to creating a supportive community, in helping children and young adults with genetic and neurodevelopment disorders, who have behavioral, mental and health disabilities, to have a higher quality of life and to thrive and grow in a nurturing environment. They aspire to help encourage and teach parents to advocate for their children starting from early identification, which increases the possibility of a successful life.
