80-year-old dead after vehicle accident in Kaneohe

KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An 87-year-old woman is dead following a vehicle accident in Kaneohe, according to Honolulu police.

The Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as Mary Wuscher of Kaneohe.

Police said Wuscher, who was driving a Toyota Corolla, was making a turn from Kamehameha Highway onto Waikalua Road and sideswiped an oncoming SUV and then hit a telephone pole. Officials said her head was slumped down prior to the crash and that she may have suffered a health condition.

The incident occurred in front of the Kaneohe Police Station at around 4:30 p.m. Wuscher was transported to the Castle Medical Center in critical condition where she was later pronounced dead.

The 29-year-old woman driving the SUV was not injured. Police said speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
