EWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Ewa residents of an expected increase in aircraft traffic over the area.
The increased aircraft is due to a closure of Runway 4R/22L for airfield improvements work. The closure will redirect flights to use Runway 8L/26R on a flight path over the Ewa Plains and may increase air traffic noise during the evening and early morning hours.
Construction is weather dependent and is expected to begin Monday, Mar. 9, through Wednesday morning, Mar. 11. The increased air traffic is expected from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day.
