Ask the Mayor: Rail project bills

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell returned to the Hawaii News Now studio for another edition of "Ask the Mayor." This time, he answered the following questions:

  • How can we get more police coverage in short staffed districts and why do some districts seem to have more staffing than others?
  • Former Mayor Mufi Hannemann has been critical of how the rail project is being handled, specifically in terms of supervising construction projects. Would you consider looking at that as a way of limiting cost overruns?
  • What are your specific plans for Ala Moana Beach Park?
  • Which rail tax bill do you prefer to fund the project? The House or the Senate version?
  • What are some viable solutions to the affordable housing crisis?
