KAHULUI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - [Update 7:15 a.m.]
The Flood Advisory has expired.
Heavy rain over Maui put the island under a flood advisory on Friday.
The National Weather Service said at 3:45 a.m., the radar showers were heavy over the west Maui mountains, and will develop over the north shore of Maui over the next few hours.
The advisory lasts until 7 a.m. but may be extended if heavy rain persists.
NWS advises staying away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also create hazardous conditions for drivers.
