HONOLULU (AP) - New bids submitted for construction of three west Oahu rail stations all came in above Honolulu city estimates.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports five bids opened Tuesday ranged between $78.9 million to $117.5 million.
City estimates range between $60 million and $75 million.
The bids were the first to be unsealed since the city canceled earlier bids that came in substantially over budget last year. In that effort, a nine-station contract package was sent out for bid, but came in at more than $100 million above budget.
The new bids are among the first of three smaller packages going out for bid.
Bids for the next three stations are slated to go out in April, followed by bids going out in August for the final three stations.
