'ELE'ELE, KAUAI (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - Lifeguards recovered the body of a man who was discovered in waters off Salt Pond Beach in ‘Ele‘ele Tuesday afternoon.
The man, believed to be in his 30's, has no known address but was known to camp in the nearby area.
His identity has not yet been released.
At approximately 1 p.m., a snorkeler notified lifeguards at the Salt Pond Beach tower of an apparent body located in roughly 10 feet of water and approximately 75 yards off shore.
A lifeguard recovered the body and responding medics confirmed that the man had no vital signs and was presumed dead at the scene. He was then transported to Wilcox Hospital.
Police are now investigating the cause of the man's death. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
