MILILANI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

An early morning car crash in Mililani ignited a massive fire, and the dramatic footage was all caught on camera.

Around 3 a.m. a driver traveling on the Mililani Mauka offramp lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree.

The driver was able to escape the wreck moments before his car burst into flames.

Witness, Chris Lai, was driving behind the car that crashed. Lai spoke exclusively with Hawaii News Now about the amazing sequence of events he was able to capture on video.

"He was right in front of us... And I was the passenger in my friend's car so we started going up the offramp and my friend starts slowing down and the car in front of us just disappears... So we were coming up and I was thinking is that a motorcycle on the side of the road because he was sideways into the tree... And we were like 'Oh no it was the car that was in front of us no pull over, pull over' and then we saw it had caught on fire" said Lai.

Miraculously, the driver only suffered minor scratches following the wreck.
