Former Schofield soldier arrested for child sex abuse

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS (HawaiiNewsNow) - A former Schofield Barracks soldier was arrested in New Mexico on Wednesday, accused of sexually molesting his fiance's 7-year-old girl on base in 2010.

FBI agents arrested 29-year-old Chason Colt Morgan pursuant to a criminal complaint that alleged he inappropriately touched the girl on three different occasions while her mother was in the hospital. Morgan, who was discharged from the Army in May 2010, was the sole caregiver for the victim and her sibling while their mother was hospitalized from Sept. 14 through Sept. 17, 2010.

According to a court filing, during a polygraph examination, Morgan said he made Long Island iced teas – to deal with the stress he was under – and later watched a movie with the children during one of the instances. The next day, he asked the girl to pretend it never happened and that he could be in trouble if anyone ever found out. The victim did not tell her mother because she knew her mother really loved Morgan and was afraid of the consequences.

The family lived on Kalana Lane during that time.

Morgan will be extradited back to Honolulu where he will face charges.
