Honolulu police capture OCCC inmate escapee

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate is back in custody after failing to return from a day pass on Tuesday afternoon.

Honolulu police located Brandon Medeiros at a Kaneohe apartment complex Wednesday at around 5:15 p.m. He was arrested on an escape charge.

Medeiros left OCCC at 8:30 a.m. and failed to return at the scheduled time of 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Honolulu Department of Public Safety. State Sheriffs and Honolulu police were notified.

Medeiros is 27 years old, is 5'6" and weighs 154 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes, and  he also has a tattoo under his left eye and on the right side of his neck.

He is serving time for Assault 2, Robbery 2, and Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle. His next parole hearing is scheduled for March of this year.

Medeiros is a community custody inmate in the work furlough program with pass privileges. Community custody is the lowest classification status.
