HALEIWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A large sculpture was stolen recently from Wyland Galleries in Haleiwa. The shop says the piece, called Ocean Born, is valued at nearly $39,000.

The dolphin statue was bolted down outside the door when it was stolen and has been a fixture at the North Shore shop for the past nine years. Store employees believe this was a coordinated crime.

"It is quite cumbersome because of the fins and everything. You know, if you try to move it quickly it's going to be hard to move by one person," said Matt Maletta, an employee at Wyland Gallery. "I imagine it was hard."

The sculpture weighs more than 100 pounds and is about three feet long. If you see it, you are asked to call police.
