UH baseball team sweeps doubleheader to win Hofstra series
UH is 4-5 this season
HONOLULU - Kaeo Aliviado homered in this third straight game as the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team swept a double header against Hofstra on Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows won handily in both games, winning 8-2 in game one and 9-3 in the nightcap.
Game one saw the 'Bows (4-5) unload on Hofstra with three runs in each of the first two innings. Aliviado's two-run shot provided the fireworks in the first inning and set the tone for the game. He collected an RBI in the second inning and Eric Ramirez's (1 H, 1 R, 2 RBI) run-scoring hit capped the early-inning scoring barrage.
LJ Brewster (2-0) threw a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts in the seven-inning affair. Starter Adam Heidenfelder (0-2) gave up five runs and was lifted after pitching to two batters in the second inning.
Aliviado had two hits, two runs, and three RBI and Stephen Ventimilia scored three runs after reaching base on balls in each of his three plate appearances. Mat Annunziatta had two hits and a run scored for Hofstra.
UH's seven runs in the third inning was the story of game two. After the 'Bows spotted Hofstra (2-6) two runs, Aliviado gave his team the lead on one swing, a three-run home run again over the right field wall. Alan Baldwin, who had a monster 3-3, 1 R, 2 RBI performance, later scored Jordan Richartz (1 H, 1 R) and Ramirez (2 H, 2 R) on a two-run single as Hawai'i took a 7-2 lead through three innings.
After nine home games in nine days to start the season, the 'Bows now head to Pepperdine for four games before traveling to Texas and the Houston College Classic.
