EAST HONOLULU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The City and County of Honolulu has started a much need repaving project at Sandy Beach. To minimize impact on park visitors, the project is being undertaken in two phases.
During Phase I, the entrance on the Halona Blowhole side of the park will be closed. Park visitors will be able to both enter and exit from the Makapuu driveway. Phase I is expected to last through early March.
Phase II will begin immediately following completion of Phase I. During Phase II, the entrance on the Makapuu side of the park will be closed and park visitors will be able to both enter and exit from the entrance on the Halona Blowhole side of the park. The entire project is expected to be completed in mid-March.
A $300,029 contract for the project was awarded to Kailua-based H.E. Johnson Company. The project is under the supervision of the Department of Design and Construction.
