HONOKOHAU BAY, MAUI (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - Maui firefighters recovered two drowning victims in waters off Maui around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
Officials say a 19-year-old male and a 18-year-old female were both pulled from the ocean near Honokohau Bay, on the Northwest side of the island.
Both victims were reported to be residents of Kahului. Initial reports said the female was swept off the rocks and the male victim jumped in to try and save her.
The victims were found underwater by rescue divers.
